Our swimming training plans are designed to cater to a wide range of abilities, from novice swimmers looking to build confidence and technique, all the way to advanced athletes aiming to smash a new personal best in a 5K or 10K event.
Each plan has a clear description of the target audience, so you can find the perfect fit whether you’re just starting out or have been swimming for years.
For maximum convenience, all our training plans are delivered directly to your compatible smartwatch (like Garmin or Apple Watch) through the TrainingPeaks app.
This means you can see your workout for the day right on your wrist, with no need for a soggy, printed-out sheet. All you need is a free TrainingPeaks account and a compatible device to get started.
We recommend choosing a plan that aligns with your primary goal. Are you training for a specific open water race distance, like a 5K or 10K? Or is your goal more general, such as improving your overall swimming endurance and efficiency?

Our plans are designed by Head Coach Chris Searle, a Level 3 qualified swimming coach with a track record of coaching swimmers to British titles.
Our plans are delivered through the TrainingPeaks platform and include the added benefit of remote coach support.
This means you get a professionally structured program created by an expert, delivered conveniently to your watch and training calendar, with support available if you need it. The core philosophy is efficiency—every session is structured to give you the maximum benefit for your time, focusing on improving technique and building sustainable endurance, not just logging endless laps.
While the specific equipment may vary slightly between plans, most workouts will require standard swimming gear: a swimsuit, goggles, pull buoy and a kickboard.
Some sessions will also incorporate hand paddles and fins to help isolate specific muscle groups and improve technique. Any required equipment will be clearly listed within the details of the training plan.

My event was a 5k open water swimming at Oceanman Curaçao. The swimming plan worked just perfect.
I ended with energy and swimming with technique the last quarter of the 5k, which is a very good parameter for me since was my first time in this distance and I was nervous about finishing strong. And last but not least, I secured a slot for the Oceanman World Championship in the 5k distance since I finished in the top 6 of my age group. I really liked the scientific approach of this training plan.
